Chocolate Chip (AND WINE) Day!

If your idea of a balanced diet is a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other…join our JaMily. We’re celebrating National Chocolate Chip Day on May 15th with our favorite wines and these chocolate dishes. It’s an official holiday…you have full permission to wine and chocolate to your hearts desire!

Trevor, Social Media: Slutty Brownies

Inappropriate but you’re got to love it. #SorryNotSorry. Long story short: pre-made chocolate chip cookie dough on the bottom; Oreo cookies in the middle; rich, chocolatey brownie batter on top. Bake into one sinfully sweet dessert. Plot twist—swap out the middle layer of Oreos for anything: Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, York Peppermint Patties, Rolos, Marshmallows. The possibilities are endless! Depending on my filling, I’m either sipping JaM Cab, or Sugar Sweet White with these.

Coco, Wine and Music Studio: Chocolate Chip Cookies

I love cookies. No, seriously LOVE cookies! I nearly lost my mind when I found this fabulous recipe for my gluten-free gal pal using almond flour instead of regular flour. You absolutely cannot tell, so now this is my new go-to for all my cookies and they are beyond delicious with a glass of bubbly Toast Sparkling. I make these a lot—did I mention how much I LOVE cookies…and wine?

Sarah, Marketing: Double Chocolate Chili

I’m a savory and sweet girl and to me this deep, rich chili with two types of chocolate warms me up from the outside in when it’s damp and chilly (get it?😂). I’m definitely opening JaM Cab to go with this and if I’m feeling generous I might spare a splash or two for the chili.

Ashley, Marketing: Seven Layer Ooey-Gooey Cookie Bars

I never missed a Holiday without baking Seven Layer bars with my grandma. The smell brings back all the great memories of being a kid—and I still am… at heart. My grandma’s recipe is a family secret—hand written on a notecard with her beautiful cursive writing,  but you can find a similar recipe here. And yes, the Eagle brand sweetened condensed milk is mandatory, alongside a glass of JaM Cabernet, which is like adding a yummy wine cherry on top!

Emily, Media: Chocolatey Pumpkin Spice Bread

This is my go-to for when the autumn chill starts to set in! I’ve been making it for years and have adapted it into my own. The sweetness of the chocolate adds the perfect balance to the spice of the pumpkin loaf, and really completes the ultimate comfy vibes when combined with my favorite movie, a fireplace and a dark fruity glass of JaM Cab!

Ingredients

  • 15 oz pumpkin puree
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2/3 cups water
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 ginger
  • 3/4 bag of milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Grease 2 9×5 inch loaf pans
  • Mix pumpkin puree, eggs, oil, water and sugar in a large bowl until well combined. In a separate bowl, whisk dry ingredients. Combine, and add in chocolate chips and pour evenly between the loaf pans.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour, toothpick should come out clean.
  • Optional: Whisk 3 tbsp sugar and 1 tbsp cinnamon and top bread

Greg, Content: One Bowl Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

I tend to buy more bananas than I can reasonably eat, so I just store the overripe ones in the freezer and wait for the right time to make banana bread.  The recipe calls for a 1/2 cup of chocolate chips, so you might as well double it and have some on hand for snacking during the bake, washed down with some creamy chilled Butter of course.  Enjoy!  *Pro tip: remove the banana peels before freezing.

Enjoy the chocolatey melting, stirring, baking and slicing—with a glass of yummy JaM Cellars wine in the other hand…for balance!
